Chi Nei Tsang is primarily an abdominal massage that releases tension and promotes smooth flow of energy. Chi Nei Tsang translates as “working the energy of the internal organs.” The story says it originates from ancient China, practiced by Taoist monks of the White cloud order, in mountain monasteries. They used CNT to detoxify, strengthen and refine their bodies in order to maintain the energy needed for their high-level spiritual pursuits. In more recent years the practice came to Thailand and from there to the West.
Chi Nei Tsang is a holistic treatment that aims to integrate the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of our being. Toxins from our environment, in the form of food, drugs, polution etc as well as poor ‘emotional digestion’ can lead to the creation of knots and tangles in our abdominal area. These can lead to gradual obstruction of energy circulation which may result in disease.
Our belly is the very center of our body. It is where breath and movement originates and where chi is being stored (hara).
All systems of our body can benefit from CNT: digestive, respiratory, urinary, reproductive, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, lympthatic, endocrine, nervous, as well as the meridian system. In Chinese medicine, organs and the meridians are connected to emotions like anger, grief, fear, anxiety as well as positive ones like joy. CNT trains the internal organs to work more efficiently and therefore promotes physical as well as emotional health.
Chi Nei Tsang can help with:
intestinal blockages, knots, lumps, scar tissues
digestive issues
Menstrual cramps, infertility, impotense, Uterine Fibroids
Back pain, sciatica, postural and musculoskeletal issues
Breathing and blood circulation
Autoimmune diseases
Sleeping disorders, chronic fatigue
CNT can help with already existing issues, it can support and speed up healing, or it can be preventative.
A session typically lasts 90 minutes. I work with gentle deep touch of the abdominal area mostly. I work directly on the skin and I use a little bit of oil.
Do not eat at least 2 to 3 hour prior to session.
Not recommended for menstruating women, while bleeding. Also not while pregnancy.
